November is Diabetes Awareness Month! Wear Blue this Wednesday!

November is Diabetes Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and understanding of diabetes, a condition that affects millions of people, including children.

This Wednesday, November 19th, we encourage all students to wear blue to show their support for individuals and families impacted by diabetes. Wearing blue is a simple way to demonstrate solidarity and help spread awareness within our school community.

Let's come together to support this important cause!

STEAM Night

On December 4th at 5:00 pm, R. Brown McAllister will be hosting a STEAM Night for third through fifth grade. This night will include musical performances, the art show, the science fair, the soil and water conservation poster contest, and the trashion show. Aside from the musical performances and science fair awards, the rest of the night will be at your own leisure. For the performances, make sure your student is in the back hallway near the first-floor bathrooms at their assigned times. For the science fair awards, ensure your student is in the cafeteria at the assigned time. Thank you and we look forward to a night full of STEAM!

The times are as followed:
5th Grade - 5:15
4th Grade - 5:45
3rd Grade - 6:15
Science Fair Awards - 6:45

The Positivity Project Family Newsletter

The Positivity Project Family Newsletter

Dear Families,

Over these next two weeks, our school community will focus on the character strength of Gratitude. Gratitude means being aware of and grateful for good things that happen.

Gratitude is about feeling and showing thankfulness. It helps us see the good in others and in the world. People with gratitude are ready to appreciate and return kindness. Expert Robert Emmons says gratitude strengthens relationships because it makes us recognize how others support us.

Out of all 24 character strengths, gratitude is the single best predictor of individual well-being. It is linked to more energy, empathy, happiness, and optimism. The good news is that gratitude can be practiced and strengthened like a muscle. The more we practice it, the more benefits we get.

To practice and encourage this strength at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.

Thank you for your support!
